JoAnn Cole

Buckner children and Families Services

JoAnn Cole has been a passionate leader, advocate and agent of change for children and family services for 34 years.  Her career of service is based on her relationship with Christ and belief that this is a calling. JoAnn has served as Vice President of Buckner Children and Family Services, Inc. for the last three years.  She has been employed with the organization for 28 years.  JoAnn is the first black female to serve in a Vice President role.  Recently, she assumed a new role of Vice President for Buckner Adoption and Maternity Services, Inc., providing leadership and oversight of adoption and foster care programs.  JoAnn received the Buckner Children and Family Services, Inc. Servant Leadership Award in 2011. 

 

Experience with key functions of non-profit management, including: strategic planning, program development, policy development, human resources, financial management, program realignment, facility management, public relations, staff training and development.  She has been instrumental in developing and managing humanitarian aid, community enrichment and prevention programs, residential, foster care and transitional housing services, domestic and international adoption during her tenure with Buckner.

 

For more than 138 years, Buckner International has been transforming lives through hands-on ministry, serving the most vulnerable from the beginning to the ending of life. Buckner is one of the oldest and most unique faith-based social service organizations of its kind, serving hundreds of thousands of people each year in the United States and around the world

 

JoAnn has been married to husband, LaVaughn Cole, for 32 years and resides in Cedar Hill, Texas.  Both JoAnn and LaVaughn have worked to empower at risk children and families through Christ-centered leadership and service throughout their careers.  They are active members of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, Dr. S.C. Nash, Sr., Pastor.

 

JoAnn earned her bachelor’s degree of science in criminology and corrections from Sam Houston State University and a master’s of science human relations and business degree from Amberton University.  She is a licensed child care administrator.  JoAnn is a member of Foster Family Treatment Association, Baptist Child Care Executives, Texas Alliance of Children and Family Services and Christian Leadership Alliance.
