I am a pastor, non-profit leader, former corporate VP, but most importantly, I am a father. Ten years ago, God placed on my heart a burden for my community in Grand Prairie, Texas, and Freedom Church was born. Since then, I have split my time between ministry and marketplace.
Growing up in a home with six fostered and adopted brothers, I have been uniquely tailored to know the value the local church has in the lives of vulnerable children. At Freedom Church, we serve the community through after-school programs, clothing and feeding programs, and mentoring. Freedom Church is established throughout the community as a church who embodies what it means to love God and others. We live worship and meet the real needs of the community. I desire to see this local impact multiplied throughout the state.
In April, I received a call that changed the trajectory of my career. After 15 years of experience in the banking retail space, I have decided to serve in ministry full-time. While still serving as lead pastor of Freedom Church, I have the opportunity to become the State Director for a national movement equipping local churches to care for children in crisis. CarePortal is a national technology platform run by The Global Orphan Project connecting children in crisis to local churches, and the impact is exponential. CarePortal is revolutionizing child welfare in the name of Jesus across Texas and across the country.
Yet, there is healing to be done before the Church can heal the hurting. Hurt people hurt people. Healed people heal people. The child welfare system, and even local churches, have pasts which have caused feelings of distrust and disenfranchisement. I have been called upon to lead the charge here in Texas to heal. Let’s heal as a Church so we can heal others and strengthen families through the powerful love of Jesus.
